Dr. Charles joins Bridging Life as medical director, following 22 years with Gilchrist Hospice Care in a variety of roles including associate medical director. In addition, he has served as medical director of Broadmead Retirement Community, Lorien Riverside Nursing and Rehab, Gilchrist's inpatient unit, and other facilities around the Baltimore metropolitan area. He also served as assistant medical director at Blakehurst Retirement Community and GBMC's Transitional Care Unit. He is a clinical faculty member in hospice/palliative medicine at Johns Hopkins University. A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, Dr. Charles competed a fellowship in geriatric medicine and gerontology at Johns Hopkins, and residencies in internal medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine and emergency medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. He also completed an internship in internal medicine at Tulane. He is board certified in hospice and palliative care medicine, geriatric medicine and as a hospice medical director.
