Education and Training
Dr. Haislup’s academic journey began at Pennsylvania State University, followed by earning his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine. He then completed a rigorous five-year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. During this time, he gained extensive experience in trauma and reconstructive surgery while developing a deep connection to the local patient population.
To further specialize in the most complex disorders of the upper extremity, he completed an advanced fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. This elite training focused on the latest advancements in primary and revision arthroplasty, complex reconstruction, and advanced arthroscopic techniques.

Innovation and Research
As a researcher and innovator, Dr. Haislup has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, podium presentations, book chapters, and surgical videos used to educate surgeons globally. He was among the first trainees in the country to utilize the Mako shoulder robot, gaining early expertise in robotic-assisted joint replacement. His academic work focuses on optimizing clinical and radiographic outcomes in shoulder arthroplasty, shoulder biomechanics, cartilage injury, and ligamentous elbow injury. He remains at the forefront of the field through his active membership in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).
