About Charity Dugan
Professional Statement
Charity Dugan, D.O., is a board-certified breast surgeon with 11 years of experience in treating breast disease, including breast cancer. She completed her general surgery internship and residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and earned her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Dugan is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Dr. Dugan joined The Breast Care Center at Pomona with Dr. Michael J. Schultz to bring new skills and ensure a seamless transition for the future. An accomplished surgeon, Dr. Dugan, like Dr. Schultz, began her career in general and cancer surgery. Her passion for breast care developed during her years of training and treating breast cancer patients, ultimately leading her to focus solely on this specialty.
Outside of work, Dr. Dugan enjoys traveling, exercising, and participating in her children’s extracurricular activities. She is a proud military spouse to an active duty soldier and mother of three young children. “As a female surgeon, I feel I can connect with patients facing one of the most emotional challenges in a very personal way,” she says. She and the longstanding Breast Care Center team are committed to providing the same compassionate, patient-centered care that has been the hallmark of the practice under Dr. Schultz’s leadership.

It would be good to have had something in writing when I left. I guess listening and trying to process all the information is kind of hard. We did have a good conversation and Dr. Dugan provided me with lots of information, but I'm afraid that some of it I just can't recall. So, some way of capturing that information that I can later go back to would be very helpful. Thank you.

The provider was courteous, accommodating, spent extra time ensuring all my questions were addressed, and took into consideration the length of my commute and looked for ways to make it easier to communicate.

From my very first call to the office, Mary, the care coordinator made everything simple and took the guesswork out of scheduling at a time when I knew almost nothing other than that my mammogram looked suspicious and my biopsies had come back positive. Her kindness and clarity made an overwhelming situation feel manageable from the start. From the moment I walked into the office, I had a great experience. The waiting room was clean, bright, and inviting. Everyone I encountered was incredibly kind and understanding considering that I was a complete basket case that day. I met Dr. Dugan and I love that after introducing herself and greeting me and my friend she started off by asking "tell me what you know about your diagnosis" and that's when I knew this was a match because I had a page in my journal of questions that literally read, "what I think I know..." and from that moment on, Dr. Dugan made me feel 100% comfortable, heard, and cared for, never rushed and honestly just truly present. I can't say enough good things about this entire team. Then I met Jamie, the nurse navigator, and she was truly a highlight. And she just had what seemed like all the right answers. I knew I was going to need someone to lean on through this journey, and she immediately proved to be that person and so much more! I left the appointment that morning feeling confident and reassured, and I'm just genuinely grateful to be beginning my breast cancer journey with a group that made me feel like I was their only patient.

Dr.Dugan is a wonderful doctor. It there was a higher score than 10, she would receive it. She is caring, kind, professional, and a joy to be around. I am very lucky to have her as my doctor, and you are very lucky to have her working in your group. The people in her office were great, and the facility was bright and cheery.

All the staff was wonderful and respectful. Ms. Mary Myers did a wonderful job in doing pre surgical education and I believe it is very important to know the expectations so you and your family can prepare ahead of time. I believe all surgeons office must follow this example.
