About Me

Omar Zalatimo, M.D., M.P.H., M.H.A., F.A.A.N.S., is a board-certified (by the American Board of Neurological Surgery), fellowship-trained neurosurgeon. Dr. Zalatimo serves as the director of both the LifeBridge Health Comprehensive Spine Center and the LifeBridge Health Functional Neurosurgery Program.

Dr. Zalatimo completed his neurosurgical residency and fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, where he also earned master's degrees in Public Health and Health Administration from Penn State University. His academic awards and commendations include induction to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Mark J. Young International Health Policy Scholarship and the Highmark Blue Shield Fellowship Award for Academic Achievement.

Dr. Zalatimo’s approaches care with a “less is more” philosophy. He first strives to exhaust all non-surgical treatment options, and even when surgery can’t be avoided, he focuses on procedures that allow patients to recover faster and get home sooner. Patients of Dr. Zalatimo will often find yoga, ergonomics and physical therapy as part of their care plans, reflecting his thoroughness and thoughtfulness in providing minimally intrusive care. With the advanced resources and personal atmosphere of the Berman Brain & Spine Institute at Sinai Hospital, Dr. Zalatimo is perfectly positioned to restore function in patients’ lives.

Dr. Zalatimo is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals and has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts. His active clinical and research interests are in the treatment of simple and complex spinal problems, brain tumors, brain hemorrhages, Chiari malformations, epilepsy, pain, trigeminal neuralgia, spinal stimulation, peripheral nerve disorders and deep brain stimulation.
