About S. Ashfaq "Ash" Hasan

Professional Statement

Dr. Hasan is a Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Chief of the Shoulder and Elbow Program. After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University, Dr. Hasan completed his orthopedic residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Hasan then completed a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed a Sports Medicine fellowship. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He also has a sub-specialty certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. 

Dr. Hasan's clinical interests include shoulder and elbow replacement as well as arthroscopic shoulder surgery for rotator cuff tears and shoulder dislocations. He also has a focus on elbow arthroscopy and elbow ligament reconstructionin the throwing athlete.
