About Soha Bazyar
Professional Statement
Soha Bazyar, M.D., PhD has joined the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at Sinai Hospital. Dr. Bazyar earned her medical degree from the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Mashhad, Iran. She completed an internship in general surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from the radiation oncology residency program at University of Maryland Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Bazyar holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Bazyar’s journey toward becoming a radiation oncologist began with a personal loss—losing one of her closest friends to gastric cancer at a young age. That experience shaped her commitment to dedicating her career to caring for cancer patients. With a background in biomedical engineering, she was drawn to radiation oncology as a field where she could merge her technical knowledge with compassionate care.
She finds of the most meaningful aspects of radiation therapy to be the daily interaction with patients. “Seeing a patient every day throughout their treatment creates a strong bond and allows us to become a part of their extended family”, says Dr. Bazyar, “among oncology specialties, this unique continuity of care gives us not only the privilege of guiding patients through their treatment, but also the opportunity to offer emotional support and be a steady presence during one of the most challenging times in their lives.”
In addition to patient care, Dr. Bazyar has devoted a significant part of her career to advancing cancer treatment through research. She has presented her work at several national and international conferences, and her published studies have been cited over 200 times. She was also honored to receive a prestigious research grant from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) to lead a study on a novel radiation therapy technique known as FLASH.
When asked why she chose to practice medicine at LifeBridge Health, Dr. Bazyar said, “From the moment I first met the team at LifeBridge, I felt a strong sense of family. Everyone was deeply committed to caring for patients as if they were their own loved ones. Now that I’m part of the group, I can confidently say that the shared purpose here is clear — every heart is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care and putting patients first.”

I would like to take the pill, because the pill is better for me. I don't like people poking on my skin and stuff. So if y'all could, please give me the pill. Thank you.

I feel that I am in good hands and will be given the upmost care. I feel very confident with the team that will be handling my care. So much that after I came home after my appointment I was dancing in my kitchen. Because now I see there is a plan in place and I now know what I have to deal with. The fear has somewhat lessen, because I have an attack plan for this disease and I have my hands in God's hands for strength and faith.

My personal opinion that everybody was excellent from the time I got out of my car until I got in my car to go home. And that means everyone the registration people the housekeeping. The escorts, even if people who was walking through the hospital with the hospital badge on was very, very friendly and helpful.
